I’ve been wanting to try a homemade version of hot chocolate for a while now because I don’t like to buy pre-made mixes. So I just took some ingredients I assumed where in hot chocolate and made it my own! This recipe makes two cups. I made two cups because (the bf) Drew wanted to try some as well!
Servings: 2 cups
Ingredients:
2 cups milk (almond orĀ dairy)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 oz 70% dark chocolate (I use organic Green & Blacks)
4 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions: Heat milk and 70% dark chocolate on the stove on medium heat until chocolate begins to melt. Add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Continuously stir until ingredients are nicely blended together. Let heat to desired temperature (I did not bring to a full boil). Carefully pour hot cocoa into mugs using a funnel. Add mini marshmallows and 70% dark chocolate shavings on top and enjoy!
Mine was a little bitter, so adding some whipped cream would have been perfect. I didn’t have any on hand though. It was a successful first try at my own homemade hot chocolate. Let me know if you enjoyed this recipe or made one of your own!
