Review: Java Sok Iced Coffee Sleeve

Summer is my favorite time of year to get iced coffee in the afternoons. I’m not picky about where to get it, but I usually go to Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, or McDonalds. I also go to Tim Hortons or Panera Bread occasionally too. My pet peeve though, is the condensation and getting my hands, desk, and clothes wet from the plastic cups!! Not to mention my hand getting really cold. That’s when I did my online search and found my new favorite accessory, the Java Sok!

Now, I have never seen this in stores before and it seems pretty exclusive to only being available online at So I emailed them and asked them to send me some samples to try and review for you guys. I am incredibly grateful that they responded with a yes! I now have every size and I must tell you, it is a necessity that I never knew I needed.

The Java Sok comes in 7 different colors and 3 different sizes such as the 16oz (Grande at Starbucks or small at DD’s), 24oz (Venti at Starbucks or medium at DD’s), and 32oz (Trenta at Starbucks or large at DD’s). All worked great for me and I even used the 16oz size on a Tall at Starbucks and it still worked, it just went up to the lid. So, whichever size you order more often that’s the one to get, or get one of each!

My favorite part, outside of them doing a great job at what they’re made for, is how many colors are available! I can’t decide which is my favorite. They even say on their website that they may come out with even more colors and designs. I’m looking forward to see what else they have to offer in the future. This is such a creative and amazing idea that I am excited for more!

The Java Sok itself works great at keeping the drink cool and the condensation from dripping everywhere. I had it on my Grande iced coffee for 4 hours and it STILL had ice in it! So, not only did it prevent my pet peeve of condensation, but it helped the drink last longer by keeping it cool. (Yes, I tend to drink these slowly in the mornings at work). Another good thing is that even with the Java Sok on, the drinks still fit in my cup holders in my car. Now I can use this soft, comfortable, and insulating sleeve on my iced beverages anytime anywhere!

The only negative I have to say about it, is that it does make it a tiny bit less stable on my desk, but I honestly haven’t had any issue of it knocking over. It’s just a little more wobbly since the bottom is also the thick insulating koozie material, but it’s well worth it for the benefits. Even though these are made specifically for Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts cups, they worked with the medium McCafe plastic cup that I ordered iced coffee in and also a small iced coffee at Panera Bread. Both fit the 16oz or 24oz sized Java Sok. I did ask how to clean them if coffee were to spill over on them and the best way to do it is with dish soap and water by hand and then let air dry.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend that you try this out if you are an avid iced coffee or any iced beverage drinker. I’m so happy I had the chance to try this product and that it was provided to me this for me to review. Thanks Java Sok!!

Have you tried the Java Sok yet? They have a special deal where you get 15% off 2, 20% off 3-6, or 25% off 7-12. If you only buy one they are priced at $9.95 each for any size. Also, with my special promo code “christina10” you can get an added 10% off your order until 9/30/17! So be sure to order soon to take advantage of the extra savings!

Review: Victoria’s Secret Tinted Sunless Tanning Lotion

Victoria's Secret Self Tanning Lotion Review

I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while now, but I’m finally reviewing it after my previous sunless tanning lotions review. Victoria’s Secret has a Tinted Sunless Tanning Lotion that I’ve fallen in love with. It’s a little pricier than my other options at $15 for 5.5 ounces, but it’s well worth the instant golden glow tan.

You can purchase this in stores, but it is seasonal and limited quantity, so I stock up and buy a couple bottles so I have some to last me a while. The lotion is very good smelling, hardly any “sunless tanner” smell, it doesn’t come of on clothing or sheets if you let it dry for 15-30 minutes after application. It’s also not sticky or streaky. It is tinted bronze so you can easily see even coverage. I apply two days in a row (usually at night and show in the morning) and it gives me a really nice glow that lasts for 3-5 days. You still need to wipe your ankles, knees, elbows, as these areas get darker like with other self tanning lotions.

  • No terrible smell
  • Instant tan after one application
  • Tinted lotion is great for easy coverage
  • Non-sticky
  • A little goes a long way
  • Doesn’t come off easily on clothing or bed sheets when fully dry
  • Lasts a 3-5 days
  • Didn’t make skin break out (including my face)

  • Pricey for only a 5.5 oz bottle that lasts only about 6 applications or less (depending on amount used)
  • Turns skin yellowish as it fades
  • Not available in stores all year round

I recommend exfoliating before applying as well as staying hydrated to make the tan last. Drink water, use a lotion such as sunscreen to lock in the color. My skin becomes very sensitive to sun rays when I use this tanner, or any tanner, so sunscreen prevents burn and sun rash if I’m going to be outside. I also recommend reading directions and also ingredients to make sure you aren’t allergic and to get the best results.

Overall, this is my go-to lotion. The sole fact that it doesn’t make me smell terrible is a WIN! It also gives me instant results, which is great because I’m not very patient with gradual tanning lotions. I would recommend this, but stock up if you want to tan all year round. Limited availability is definitely an issue with this one. You could buy on but it’s outrageously priced.

Have you tried Victoria’s Secret Tinted Sunless Tanning Lotion? What did you think?

Review: Maple Holistics Degrease Shampoo

Review: Maple Holistics Degrease Shampoo

In February of this year, I stumbled upon a blog post about how to train your scalp to produce less oil so that you can go longer between washes. Less washes means less damage to hair, which is what I was looking for since I have very fine straight hair that is prone to split ends.

After a month of going every other day between washes, I was not enjoying the scalp training experience. My hair would look oily and gross by day 2 of no washing. I decided to look into a shampoo that would help with oil production. I found Maple Holistics Degrease Shampoo on and decided to give it a try, despite the high cost of $16 for an 9.9oz bottle.

My first impression is that it does not smell like shampoo. It smells natural and earthy, but not unbearably so. The smell doesn’t stick to my hair, so it isn’t there after my hair dries. Only downside is that my hair doesn’t smell good or bad, it just smells neutral.

I like that this shampoo is all natural and works with my body’s natural oil production to reduce the amount of oil my scalp usually produces due to over-washing and using styling products. I feel good about using it and know it’s helping rather than hurting like shampoos with sulfates. This product seems to be more natural.

I’ve been using the Degrease shampoo for about six months and now I can go 3-4 days in-between washes! I love that the product also included a info card with tips on how to keep hair healthy, like rinsing with cool water after a hot shower to seal the hair cuticles, reducing oil production.

Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who gets an oily scalp and would like to go a couple days in-between washes to keep hair healthy and clean. After 4 months I got my hair cut and the stylist said my hair looked great and didn’t really see any split ends to trim! I say that’s a win!

Have you tried this product? How do you keep your hair healthy?

Review: Flipbelt vs. Spibelt – Fitness Running Belt for Phones & Accessories

Review: FlipBelt – Fitness Running Belt for Phones & Accessories

While searching on Pinterest for some athletic shoe and outfit ideas, I found a post about the FlipBelt, which is a MicroPoly Wicking Fabric belt with slots that you can put your phone, keys, and anything you need while you run. This has been something I’ve needed for a long time, because it fits the iPhone 6 plus! Other belts and arm bands seem to not hold such a large phone. I use my iPod Shuffle for music, but I like my phone to use the running apps and the FitBit app. So, I impulsively, without hesitation, immediately purchased the FlipBelt on their website with the code “PIN10” to get 10% off (Expires 12/31/15). Find the post here!

The FlipBelt is $28.99 without discounts and offers FREE 3-5 day shipping!

Ordering was super easy and I like that they list waist sizes in inches so I could find which would fit best. I also forgot to type in the Pinterest promo code, so I emailed them about 30 mins later asking if I could still get the discount and they applied it to my order! So great customer service! It arrived within 2 days after receiving my shipping confirmation, which was great since they said 3-5 day FREE shipping and it ended up arriving early.

Review: FlipBelt – Fitness Running Belt for Phones & Accessories

They have all sorts of colors, but I chose the Neon Punch, which is a orangish pink! I love the color coral, so this is pretty similar, just neon coral! I love having options, but if there is any color close to coral it has to be mine. I should also mention that the belt has an attached key hook, which is very nice to have that extra security of not losing my key!

As for fit, I got a small and I wear size 2 pants, usually 28″ waist, and the FlipBelt fits very snug and doesn’t budge. I tried it out for the first time while running 3 miles and it held both my key and iPhone 6 plus! The only complaint is that I had to remove my Incipio DualPro Case because it is that rubbery texture that grips the FlipBelt material and does not slide easily. I took off the phone case and the iPhone 6 plus fit, no problem! I think if you have a plastic case with a smooth surface it will fit as well. I tested this with my sister’s iPhone 5s that had a plastic case and I had no issues.

The phone at my waist was surprisingly comfortable, but I did get sweaty and the belt did too, so it had to be washed. Luckily, the FlipBelt is machine washable! While running, it didn’t move at all and stayed in place, so I had no worries about having to adjust the belt or my phone at any time during my run. Very convenient! It’s a miracle!

Here’s a video from their website about how to use the FlipBelt to get a better idea of how it’s used:

I didn’t flip the belt over after inserting my phone and key because I wanted to check my progress on my running apps every few minutes, but I see how it could add additional security if you are doing an activity where you move around the waist more, like biking.

Overall, I would recommend this fitness utility belt to anyone who is looking to avoid arm bands, fanny packs, or stuffing your things in your bra. Or if you are looking for something that not as invasive, like the arm band, for larger phones. It’s so convenient, pretty, and useful. If you try it let me know how you like it!

Comparing FlipBelt to SpiBelt:

In my opinion, SpiBelts are too bulky. The Flipbelt is much less invasive and you don’t need a zipper to hold everything in. I also like that the Flipbelt fits more items. You can store keys, phone, ID card, etc. all the way around your waist instead of just the front. The FlipBelt is also way more comfortable since there is no buckle to lock it in place. It just stretches and fits tight around the waist and doesn’t budge! FlipBelt also has a bunch of different sizes and they list the waist sizes for each so you know exactly the size you need.

SpiBelts are mostly black, while the FlipBelt is 360 degrees of eye popping color! (if you so choose, because they also have black and gray too) Honestly, SpiBelt feels and looks like a fanny pack that bounces when running, while the FlipBelt is a sleek, attractive belt that doesn’t budge! Overall, I’d definitely recommend the FlipBelt over the SpiBelt. Which do you prefer?

Review: psssst! Instant Dry Shampoo

Psssst! Dry Shampoo Review

I want to start by saying I have really fine, flat, straight hair and my scalp gets oily within a couple of days. I can wash then go an entire day and the next day without feeling oily or too greasy. I have been washing my hair nightly, though, because I feel like I needed to do so to avoid oily looking hair. After coming across an article about training your scalp not to produce so much oil, I decided to try and do that by only washing every three days and try to build up to four days.

My best friend suggested trying Psssst! Instant Dry Shampoo for in-between washing to absorb oil. Now, I’ve tried the Suave and Tresseme dry shampoos and they made my scalp itch or I didn’t like the smell very much. Psssst! has a very lovely, clean scent and does not cause any irritation to my scalp! This was the first sign that I had found my go-to dry shampoo.

Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo Review

After three days of no washing, and being extra oily from working out, I decided to give Psssst! a try. I started with a sock bun overnight to try and get some waves to distract from my greasy hair.

Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo Review

I removed the sock bun and started to section my hair and sprayed the dry shampoo at my roots, while shaking the bottle. Take note you need to keep some distance from your hair and the bottle because you can see the white powder if you get too much in one area.

Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo Review

I tossed it around and tried to avoid running my fingers through it too much. I curled my bangs with a straightener and voila! I think it looked pretty good!

I got to work after an hour commute and this is what it was like after an hour or so. I avoided hair spry because I thought it might add to the oily look rather than the clean weightless look.

Overall, I like this dry shampoo and would recommend it to anyone looking for something less harsh on the skin as it did not irritate my scalp at all. It also can add some nice volume! The smell is really nice and clean as well. I do have to say it kind of wears off and I get a little greasier as the day goes on.  I have to run a comb or brush through it a couple of times. Take note that I have seen white powder on my brushes and combs and I like to rinse that off for days I don’t need dry shampoo. It can cause a lot of static I’ve noticed. I end up really really wanting to wash my hair by the end of the day after day three, but it’s only been 2 weeks of me trying to train my scalp. Pssst! is a great help in the meantime until I get where I want to be.

Do you have a favorite dry shampoo? What is your hair care routine? How often do you wash? Share in the comments!

Pups & Pets: Meet Luna Our Rescue Pup

Pups & Pets: Meet Luna Our Rescue Pup

Everyone welcome to the new section of my blog: Pups & Pets! This first post of this new section will be about our newest edition to our family, Luna. We chose the name because #1 the boyfriend wanted her to have a character’s name from a computer game (Dota 2) and #2 I liked that it means “moon” in Latin. It fits her well and she responded to it almost immediately!

Pups & Pets: Meet Luna Our Rescue Pup

Our First Meeting with Luna

My boyfriend and I have wanted to adopt a dog for about a year now. We tried an adult dog with behavior issues, which did not go well and then a puppy, which ended up being way too much work for two people who work 8 hours a day. So, after months of stalking petfinder and a dozen rescue sites in Ohio, I came across a post of Luna (whom they named Whisper) by a shelter. She was described as loving and gentle and good for an elderly couple and I was thinking “That’s our dog!” (I should mention my boyfriend and I are 25 years old haha). A team of people who rescue dogs and put them in foster homes rescued her from the shelter and put her in a prison program before I could get to the shelter to see her, but luckily Randy, the Wet Kisses and Wagging Tails owner, took her out of the program to meet us and then kept her at his home for us until we could officially make her our new family member. They have a great rescue and they are very kind and understanding! I would adopt from them again for sure.

Luna with her Tornado Toy

Two weeks later she’s doing wonderfully with us and with our daily routine. She sleeps most of the day, but LOVES to be outside and exploring. She’s a little timid with loud noises and toys, but we hope she gains confidence as time goes on and learns she’s safe with us and is allowed to have some fun! The only toy we can play with is her food puzzle. I got her the DogTornado Interactive Dog toy and she seems to really love it while getting praise every time she succeeds at finding the food hidden in the compartments. It gets her mind working and is also an entertaining and rewarding experience for her and us! We also make sure she gets a walk in during the day with our dog walking service DogDays Ohio. Justin, the owner is very friendly, understanding, and trustworthy. I love that I can feel at ease that Luna gets some attention, can relieve herself, and gets some exercise while we are at work 8 hours a day. I highly recommend them if you are in the Columbus, Ohio area.

Pups & Pets: Meet Luna Our Rescue Pup

Luna Gazing out the Window

This week we gave her a bath for the first time in our home. She seems to get very shy when she is nervous or does not like something. She was shy and tried to get out of the tub, but afterwards, she seemed so happy to be clean! She really likes to “shake” and she didn’t mind the hair dryer. I hope she will learn that baths are a fun and good experience. The only negative is BOY does she SHED! So much fur everywhere! We have been vacuuming daily. She’s been very itchy with her spay site healing and being shaved, so we hope after she heals and her fur grows back in she will be less itchy. She also had a very bad flea infestation and had patches of hair missing. The fur is growing in and seems to be very itchy too.

Training wise, she’s perfectly potty trained! She does need some leash training, as she likes to pull and gets VERY excited to see other dogs and they get intimidated by her excitement and do not greet her nicely. We are working on that. Tricks she knew before she got to us were “sit” and “lay down” on her bed. Within two weeks I have her doing “sit”, “down”, “up”, “stay”, “night night” (which means go to bed) and working on “heel” and “paw”. She is a fast learner, especially when there are treats and lots of praise involved!!

I’m so glad we found Luna. She is definitely a great pup. Very gentle, loves people, and is so cuddly and soft! I find training sessions fun and rewarding for all of us. I can’t wait to see what all she is capable of!

Review: TAZO Chai Tea Bags

Review: TAZO Chai Tea Bags

Last year I had discovered Chai tea and fell in love with this flavorful hot beverage that was refreshing and delicious. Since then, I have tried several brands of Chai tea and Chai tea lattes. In this blog I will be reviewing TAZO’s Chai Vanilla Caramel thanks to and providing these samples. Even though I was given this product to review, my opinions are my own.

What’s great about TAZO is that they are honest about where they get all of their ingredients. They also use a lot of organic ingredients as well for some of their teas. Their Chai Tea is available as tea bags or in liquid concentrates. Each TAZO Chai flavor is its own unique blend with an individual taste profile. Not only do you get the benefits of green or black tea, you get the benefits of the spices as well. It’s also nice that they are not sweetened. I think this tea is so flavorful it doesn’t need anything added!

The TAZO Vanilla Caramel Chai Tea has a light spicy flavor with a small hint of vanilla and caramel. I used hot water and added the tea bag to be pleasantly surprised by the scent. It smells wonderful in the bag itself, but adding it to water made it fill the room. It was a great experience for the senses. They offer instructions on the back of the bags. Use 8 oz of hot water and let seep for 5 minutes. I let it seep for about 2 or 3, as I usually do not like my tea very strong. They have these instructions the same for the three tea bags I was given.

Review: TAZO Chai Tea Bags

I could see adding in some milk or a little sugar to make it creamier and sweeter so it’s more of a dessert or treat. I may try this next time I have a cup. Overall, I love this company and their products. I have gotten Chai Tea Lattes from Starbucks and this is their tea brand. I knew I couldn’t go wrong with them, but was hesitant about just having a tea bag rather than having cream, milk, sugar, etc. added like they do at Starbucks. I was very happy with the light, refreshing, perfectly blended flavor!

Now it’s YOUR turn to try! Smiley360 and TAZO were kind enough to give me a FREE TAZO tea product coupon! Comment below with the flavor of TAZO Chai Tea you would like to try (click here to view flavors) for a chance to WIN this high value coupon. Winner will be chosen November 22nd. US states only.
